One might think that 80% is not much, but think about it; there are many types of women around with many different sizes so it is really difficult for a brand to cater to all women’s taste. Mark Lee is now the new CEO of Barneys


Barneys New York, which is a luxury retailer, has just named their newest CEO who goes under the name of Mark Lee. Mark Lee is not just anybody in the fashion market; he was the former head of Gucci.

Barneys itself has been without a CEO since 2008, and so far seven executives from the committee have been lending a hand in running this company. But now, looks like their job is done as the 47-year old Mark Lee will be taking over his new post as CEO.

On its side, Barneys released a press statement by saying that Mark Lee is coming in with more than 25 years of experience under his belt. A man of experience is what Mark Lee surely is, as he first entered Gucci in 1996 then proceeded to become the president and CEO from 2004 till 2008. Before that, Mark Lee entered the fashion market in 1984, and from there on, there was no looking back for the man who also worked at Giorgio Armani and Jil Sander brands.

Maidenform a fashion again


This might come as a surprise to many but longtime manufacturer of staid lingerie, Maidenform, has been selling lingerie like hot cakes again. Apparently, Maidenform has been a hit when it comes to underwear. In case you have never heard of Maidenform, worry not as the underwear company has been keeping a low profile for some time now. But, now based on record sales it looks like it’s ready to bounce back into the market.

Maidenform is a 90-year old lingerie company based in New Jersey. Maidenform was at its top form in the 1950s and 1960s. This year alone, Maidenform reported its income increased 88 percent for Q2 and its net sales have also increased up to 30% based on last year’s performance.

One of the most famous pieces from Maidenform is the One Fabulous Fit bra that is all about fitting great inside a shirt and looking even better under it. The brand also says that prices have been slashed so that more people can afford their items during the economy downturn. Seems like, Maidenform has nothing to worry about for now.

Neiman Marcus announces increase in revenue


Ever since the month of June and July are over, companies have come forward to announce their profits or losses for half of this year. The latest one to announce an increase is retailer Neiman Marcus. Neiman Marcus, a first class department store retailer, has announced that its stores’ revenue rose 12.3 percent in Q2 this year.

Neiman Marcus’s increase in revenue is due to the sales of women’s clothing, shoes, designer handbags and jewelry. In a retail store, it’s always the ladies who do more shopping than the men so it comes to no surprise if Neiman Marcus is attributing its increase to women items sold.

The total revenue comes from Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores. Stores in New York, Texas and the West have managed to accumulate the largest revenue, and New York itself is considered a fashion spot for tourists, which comes to no surprise. The company’s total revenue up to July 31 increased from $199 million to $226 million.

Zoe Kravitz is the new face of Alexander Wang


The daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, Zoe Kravitz, is set to be the new face of fashion brand Alexander Wang. Zoe will represent the T by Alexander Wang collection. Lenny Kravitz’s daughter will be in these campaigns along handsome male model Max Motta who’s apparently from Brazil.

In case you have never heard of Lenny Kravitz, he’s a popular singer from the USA. He’s been singing for a long time now and was once rumored to be dating Nicole Kidman after her divorce with Tom Cruise. His daughter Zoe is not far behind as the young lady is also a musician and an actress.

Aside from the ads, designer Alexander will be launching his first women’s campaign video which lists Craig McDean as the photographer, Karl Templer as the stylist and Fabien Baron as the creative director. The video will showcase the different sides of this season from the young designer, it has model Abbey Lee featured in it.

Megan Fox in Armani Jeans


Who wouldn’t love to see Megan strip down? Some girls maybe but guys would love it as well as Transformers (the movie) fans. It was announced a while back that Megan Fox was signed on by a fashion brand to represent its underwear, that’s what we thought until today we spotted Megan in these Armani jeans in a new ad campaign by Armani.

Based on the pictures or ads released by Armani, it’s hard to say whether the former Transformers stars is getting into the jeans or slipping out of it. Either way, the jeans look very soft and comfortable to be worn. Wonder how much they cost!

The ad campaign didn’t overdo its ads by portraying Megan in a subtle light as compared to many others who want her to expose consistently. The jeans seem to complement Megan, now a married woman and stepmother, in a feminine and sensual way. Hopefully these Armani Jeans won’t cost a ton when released.

Coach sales increases in Q4


Great news for Coach, reports are in that the fashion house has had an increase in sales for the Q4. Several brands have already announced the profits that they have made this year; Coach is the latest one to join the line. The luxury handbag maker Coach has seen its income increase to a good 34percent in is fourth quarter thanks to sale in North America and China.

Speaking on this, Coach said they planned on expanding its men division, probably putting up more men clothes and accessories to sell. The fashion house will pay more attention to the Chinese market. The brand made a wise decision to slash down their prices as the economy was weakening thus customers weren’t spending much.

Coach cut down prices of their luxurious handbags to around $200 to $300 and this step helped take the brand even higher as its revenue rose 6.3 percent in the US and went on to sell a further 25percent handbags and other products. While handbags surge, foot wears didn’t sell that much. Hope Coach continues to surge higher and higher.
