Eva Longoria spotted in Joe’s Jeans

What is it with stars wearing what? Why is the topic much sought after? Well, when a star wears something, any piece of clothing, most of the time that’s what creates fashion. We like to look at what they wear as they are most likely wearing the latest fashion items. Fashion items that are not in stores yet and they probably got it for free. Fashion clothes that are too expensive for us to afford so we make ourselves happy by buying the cheaper versions of what celebrities are wearing or some of us are just content by checking out what they are wearing.

Speaking of what stars are wearing, Eva Longoria was spotted wearing Joe’s Jeans on the way to Beso which is her own restaurant in Hollywood, California. In case you don’t know about Eva Longoria (you probably don’t watch Desperate Housewives), she is a huge TV star that came out of nowhere a couple of years ago on the show Desperate Housewives. The show gave her a success never imagined by Eva & a huge fan following including deals from fashion houses. Joe’s Jeans are currently on sale (20% off) on the brand’s site itself so head over there if you want to own one.

Burberry will launch Cosmetics

Some time back, we reported that Burberry made some profits this year and we guess this was really profitable as they have now decided to launch a new cosmetic line. The new line is said to debut in July and Burberry are keeping their fingers crossed for the new line to be as successful as their other ventures.

Speaking on behalf of Burberry, their Chief Creative Director said that the new line will consist of foundations, powders, bronzers, eye shadow, eyeliner, lip gloss, lip definers, lipstick and mascara. So far, Burberry has had successful entries in clothes and fragrances but this is the first time they are venturing in the cosmetics market.

Burberry stated that the new line of cosmetic products will be different from the other brands’ products. Speaking on this, Burberry’s Chief Creative Director says, “It started because I felt that, at shows and the shoots, the whole [Burberry] attitude is epitomized through the shoes, the bags, the clothes, the accessories, but then the face was the one thing I really struggled with. When we were doing makeup, I felt like we weren’t able to get the right attitude.”

Volcano Ash disrupting sales of handbags

This Iceland volcano seems to be disrupting everything. First, our Hollywood stars were left stranded somewhere and now we are hearing reports on how the fashion industry is annoyed with this volcano. Apparently, luxury shoemaker brand, Ferragamo, said that their sales in the duty-free section of airports have been badly affected with a lot of airports closed. The Chief Executive Officer of the brand says, “I’m beginning to worry because it’s an important week,” Important as this week is the Japanese Golden Week public holiday, he goes on to say “People are being sent away and therefore aren’t entering the stores.”

Ferragamo, which is an Italian brand, has around 130 duty free stores worldwide. These duty free stores are accountable for the 10 percent and 11 percent of Ferragamo’s annual sales. As we all know since the 14th of April, a lot of airports have been closed specially those located in the United States and Europe which resulted in 81,000 flights being canceled.

Accessory Exchange launches new handbag collection

Macy this week will be launching a new handbag collection named olivia + joy. The new collection which is by Accessory Exchange will be first released at Macy’s then on to other retailers in July. Speaking on behalf of the brand, its president, Abe Dweck, had this to say, “I am very excited to announce the launch of our newest division, olivia + joy. We have given the exclusive launch to Macy’s for a 03/25 delivery and will be expanding our distribution with other key retailers for 7/25 and beyond.”

The new collection is based on a special collaboration by the Accessory Exchange design team in putting in some of their best ideas out there for retailers. Commenting on this, Dweck says, “We have been challenged by many of our key retail partners to inject some excitement back into the handbag department, with olivia + joy that is exactly what we have done.”

The idea was to go a bit different with the new handbags as most of the recent bags are not that exciting to talk about. In other words, there is not that much difference between them. The new line features studs and chains, as well as ruffles and bows with a new twist. They come in different colors from black to muted pastels. Prices for the olivia + joy collection will be from $48 to $98.

Asia lucky for Burberry

Everyone is expecting the big news from Burberry today. The fashion company is expected to reveal and announce that they have managed to make quite a jump in the sales department, thanks to Asia. Now we wonder where Asia is getting all that money from! Just kidding. Nevertheless, we are happy for Burberry, which after Louis Vuitton is the second brand to announce their first 3 months of profit.

Over in Japan, Burberry’s shoes and childrens wear are selling like hot cakes or hot sushi. Experts claim sales have increased by a fifth for the last three months. Japanese are known to be quite good in fashion, wearing the latest or even inventing new fashion trends.

Burberry stores worldwide have surely developed for the better which includes a better sale. Experts have gone ahead and dug deeper into Burberry’s sales and they have claimed that there have been a 14 per cent growth in the market which concluded Burberry’s profit to £200 million based on annual sales of £1.3billion.

Most likeable Fendi Handbags

Over the years, being a handbag fan we have managed to have quite a good collection of these babies from different fashion houses. We chose our most favorite, those with nice memories behind it. We will start with our favorite Fendi handbags. Flashback to 1997, we spotted the Baguette handbag from Fendi on the popular TV show “Sex and the City”. We so needed to have that bag. Over the years, many versions of this handbag were released and needless to say, it sold quite well.

Next came the revolution of the B handbag from Fendi. This Fendi handbag made more appearance that one could imagine back in 2006. It comes with a unique design of the buckle and has been released in many designs and colors. Let us tell you that it wasn’t sold for peanuts, this baby was priced from $ 2,000 to $ 27,000.

Closing this piece with the Fendi Spy handbag. The Spy handbag was the biggest around. It was probably this bag that generated more buzz than the other Fendi bags. The Fendi Spy bag was sold from $1,500 to $10,000.

The Perfect Arm Candy

Don’t you just hate it when these celebs (most of them are famous for nothing) show off the latest handbag in their outings. Specially the handbags that you have been eyeing all season and been saving up for it. Well, enough of those celebrities hating, we are going to show them some love by explaining who wore what.

Let’s start with the Céline Calfskin Luggage Bag. The bag has a strange style aka hobo style. It is large and slouchy. The bag is made of pure calfskin. It is quite popular in the fashion world and guess which celeb adores this bag? Mary Kate Olsen. The Céline Calfskin Luggage Bag cost a lot more than what an average person can afford. If you can afford this then good for you otherwise head over to Furla which offers their Corniola bag at the price of €340. The Corniola bag is available in different colors such as black, beige or white.

Rebecca Minkoff will launch Upscale Handbag Collection

No, don’t get us wrong, the new line from Rebecca Minkoff is not called Upscale but apparently, that’s what Saks Fifth Avenue want from her, a new line of first class bags. How different would these new handbags be, in terms of quality and price?

Let’s see, Rebecca Minkoff’s handbags always sell like hot cakes when they are newly released and they sell even better when they are on sale. These handbags were normally priced at $195 to $695 is considered quite affordable by ladies from all walks of life.

Now the new line which will make an appearance this week has been named the Rebecca Minkoff Collection. It features the usual handbag shapes but they have been updated with ritzy accents such as rose gold hardware and luxe calfskin leathers. From the new line, prices are roaring up to $2000. Celebrating the occasion, the designer herself will be touring eight Saks locations in the next two and a half weeks to meet up fans and sign/autograph the bags. What do you think, is this a good deal?

Guess who made it during recession?

It’s not recession anymore if Louis Vuitton has managed to make a huge profit this year. What? It’s not even half a year and LV announced that they made a 13% profit in sales. Speaking of Louis Vuitton which is already the world’s no.1 designer, they just released their Louis Vuitton Artsy Monogram collection for 2010. Thanks to the Asian and US markets, Louis Vuitton can now happily laugh all the way to the bank. LV claims that the demand is constantly increasing for its Krug Champagne, designer handbags and diamond-set Tag Heuer watches.

This definitely comes as a surprise as for the last two years, LV’s sales were not that attractive enough to talk about it. Not just in handbags did LV make some profit but in their drinks business where there have been a huge demand of champagne. Hopefully by the middle of this year, other brands too will see a rise in their sales. Until then stay fashionable.

Hats and Hair Accessories are out for this Fall

Ideally, fall is the perfect time for us to come up with new hats and different hair accessories. Whether you want to protect your hair from the changing weather conditions or simply, if you are having a bad hair day, hats and hair accessories are there to the rescue.

Various fashion designers like Fendi, Burberry Prorsum, Chanel, Calvin Klein, Anna Sui, Givenchy and others created a lot of beautiful styles for this Fall 2010. The designers used implausible hats as a way to transport this season’s looks to other places – whether it’s decades past (as at Behnaz Sarafpour), mythology (a la Charlotte Ronson’s Arabian Nights), or Marc by Marc Jacobs’ modern cowboy.

Meanwhile, the hair accessories and hats are said to be all about strong silhouettes and sophisticated glamour. Realistic features are present in many F/W 2009-10 key looks and reflect the existing economic situation.Wear these to a simple style or a messy up do for a dash of easy elegance!
