How to stay stylish in your fifties

For some women reaching 50 mean that they have attained whatever they have wanted and now they have to retire from the world of fashion and adopt a new style according to their age which is, elastic pants and bulky sweaters. Other women on the other hand think that now is the time to age gracefully and still look great.

Here are some tips on how not to look drab:
Don’t go for trendy clothes as these are more suitable to the young.
Don’t think that dressing young will make you look young. In fact you are not aiming to look young but to look stylish at 50.

Don’t think that you need to cover up your whole body. Buy clothes that fit, not body fitting but clothes that are comfortable and at the same time won’t make you look shabby and less confident.

Accessories are a great way to complement your dress and allow you to stay fashionable without looking like your trying too hard.

Make the accessories stand out by first studying your dress. If it is a plain v-neck top that leaves your neck looking a bit bare, you can opt for a necklace. If the neckline is heavy with embroidery or sequins, you may choose a nice bracelet and a pair of earrings instead. Use long necklaces to shy away from any wrinkles or excess skin in your neck.

Milan Men’s Fashion Show

Miuccia Prada, the woman behind her label has always created designs in an exceptional way and the fashion show held in Milan this Sunday was no exception.

The Milan men’s fashion runway was mostly in greys but in slickest designs, showcasing Miuccia Prada’s latest collection.

Grey suits, grey cardigans and grey shorts, giving it all a sexy and sophisticated look. The designer portrayed strange patterns but in a clever manner and together with mesh combinations and layered tank tops was definitely a hit especially with the young generations who always want to look cool. The fashion show also had a display of shorts and even skorts (which is a ‘come half-way’ between a kilt and shorts)

Another remarkable thing was the latest Prada brogue, which was in patent leather and featured super thick soles sheathed in thick lengths of rope. A simple idea but presented with Prada’s vision and style.

Style v/s Fashions

What is more important: to be fashionable or to be stylish? Well, according to the experts fashion means style or glamour. To be stylish means to be fashionable.

Style means doing things in a fashionable manner which showing that style and fashion go hand in hand. However being fashionable may not reflect style, for example, a style which suits one person may not necessarily suit another even though it is the fashion of the moment. People should not become fashion victims; some people want to be seen as fashionable, whether it suits them or not makes no difference to them. What is important is to be in fashion from their clothes, shoes, handbags and even hairstyles. But do they look elegant and stylish, that’s a different question.

People should come up with their own style; wear their clothes with grace, elegance and style, irrespective if they have bought them from a street bazaar or a branded shop. This is what fashion is about. Dress in your own style to be fashionable and that will make you look your best.
